Within of Static - Northgate Mall is an episodic first-person psychological horror game centered on grounded, human fear. In the second episode, you play as Dylan Miller, a night security guard at a partially closed shopping mall. Your shift promises to be routine: cameras, communication with the office, and silence until dawn. But with each passing hour, this familiar routine begins to unravel.
When cameras show too much
The gameplay is structured like a slow, tense walking simulator with an emphasis on observation and detail. The player explores corridors, utility rooms, and empty halls, interacting with objects and receiving messages through service devices. Minor glitches—noises, signal drops, strange silhouettes—gradually become a source of mounting anxiety.
The VHS-style visuals enhance the sense of authenticity. Communication with characters occurs via text messages on the in-game phone, and the microphone can be used as a part of the interaction. The story unfolds in real time, leaving you wondering what exactly is happening inside the center and who is actually overseeing the shift.
