Mass Effect 2 is an action-adventure RPG that takes you on a journey through the Milky Way, battling the unfriendly Reaper race, and on a mission to save humanity.
A new space journey
You'll once again play as Commander Shepard, a Space Fleet officer who will once again be forced to embark on a perilous journey. Humanity lives in the 22nd century. It has learned to build large spaceships and has already conquered space. Entire planets have been colonized, but new, dangerous enemies have also emerged. The most bloodthirsty of these are the Reapers. You will embark on this perilous journey with the Captain, battle the Reapers, and attempt to save humanity.
Complete freedom of action
The second part of the game is more like a third-person RPG shooter. There are no more corridor-like locations or linear quests—you'll play with virtually no restrictions. You're free to tackle any task however you see fit. But most importantly, you can now completely ignore the storyline and pursue additional activities offered by numerous NPCs.
Traveling across the various planets of the Milky Way plays a crucial role. You'll travel extensively aboard the Normandy, and even during these journeys, you'll be able to control your character. During this time, you'll be able to pick up weapons, gear, and customize your character.
