Mirror's Edge – Catalyst is an action-adventure game centered around stealth and parkour. The game continues the events of the first game, and once again stars Faith as the main character.
New Liberation War
The story follows Faith as she was imprisoned and nearly executed. But a totalitarian regime is also capable of good deeds—they decided to forgive and pardon her. She was imprisoned for only two years, after which she was safely released. But no matter how much she fought for the freedom of her world in the past, it has now become even more evil and totalitarian. She rejoins the Runners and once again tries to make this world free.
In terms of gameplay, virtually nothing has changed. You'll find yourself back in the City of Mirrors, but now you'll encounter more characters, each of whom will contribute to the story's development. The developers have added a bit more freedom, and the number of quests has increased significantly. However, the game still has a predetermined scenario, from which deviations are impossible, so you won't have any impact on the storyline.
Game mechanics
The parkour mechanics remain the same, but Faith's hand animations have been refined, and weapons have been removed entirely. The focus now is solely on stealth, parkour, and hand-to-hand combat. Faith cannot use weapons, but after learning certain techniques, she can disarm opponents.
This time, Faith can utilize a wide variety of gadgets and tools. For example, a grappling hook allows the heroine to evade enemies, climb rooftops, and escape pursuit.
